Who Is This For? →
Who This Is For

This speaks directly to you.

Whether you're a parent watching your child shut down at the kitchen table, or an administrator looking for evidence-based SEL interventions — this was built with you in mind.

You've tried everything.

Tutors. Khan Academy. Extra practice sheets. You've sat beside them at the table until 10pm trying to explain the same concept three different ways. And every time, you watch them shut down — not because they can't do it, but because something happens before they even try.

"What if the problem isn't your child's ability?
What if their brain just needs permission to arrive?"

The Calm Math Mind™ Coloring Book gives your child a 10-minute ritual that shifts their nervous system into learning readiness — before homework, before tutoring, before any math begins. No instructions required. Just pick up a pencil and follow a pattern.

What this gives your family

  • A concrete ritual that replaces the pre-math meltdown with 10 minutes of calm
  • Language to use with your child that validates their anxiety without reinforcing it
  • A tool they can use independently — no parent facilitation required
  • Identity affirmations embedded on every page that quietly rewire how your child sees themselves in relation to math
  • A resource created by a Black woman educator who understands what it means to build a new relationship with learning
  • Immediate digital download — start tonight

You know which students they are before you've even called attendance.

The ones who arrive at math class already defeated. Who won't attempt a problem they haven't pre-approved in their head. Who perform fine on formative tasks but freeze on anything that counts.

"You can't reach a student who is in survival mode.
You have to regulate them before you can teach them."

The Calm Math Mind™ bundle gives you four ready-to-use classroom protocols, a full language bank of tested phrases, and an observation framework that turns the coloring practice into a diagnostic window.

What this gives you in the classroom

  • A consistent pre-math regulation ritual that becomes faster and more effective the more students use it
  • A non-verbal check-in tool — the pattern a student chooses tells you more than "I'm fine" ever will
  • Ready-to-use language scripts for starting, managing resistance, and explaining the science to older students
  • An observation and documentation guide to support conversations with parents and administration
  • A tool that positions you as the educator who addresses the whole learner — not just the curriculum

Your families stay when they see results. They leave when they don't.

You've seen it: a student who attends consistently, builds some momentum, then hits a wall — and the parents pull them because "it doesn't seem to be working." What those parents don't see is that the wall isn't a skills gap. It's a nervous system issue that was never addressed.

"Students who regulate before math sessions show measurably faster progress.
Parents see results sooner and stay longer."

The Calm Math Mind™ site licence gives your centre a research-backed tool that differentiates your program, reduces student resistance during sessions, and gives parents visible evidence that your approach addresses the whole child.

What this gives your centre

  • A tangible, printable tool that sets your program apart from every other tutoring centre in your area
  • Faster student progress because sessions begin from a regulated rather than a reactive state
  • A parent-facing resource that demonstrates your commitment to evidence-based, whole-child practice
  • Talking points for intake conversations that open the door to discussing learning readiness, not just skill gaps
  • A site licence that allows unlimited printing for all students — one fee, no per-copy costs

Your board has SEL commitments. And a budget that doesn't match them.

The programs that actually move the needle on math achievement are the ones that address what happens before instruction — not during it. But most SEL tools are expensive, require professional development, and create implementation burden for already-stretched educators.

"A student cannot access mathematical reasoning until their nervous system is in a state of readiness. This tool builds that readiness directly, in under 10 minutes, with no teacher training required."

The Calm Math Mind™ board-wide site licence provides all schools within your jurisdiction with a print-ready, research-grounded, educator-created intervention that requires zero training and costs a fraction of any comparable program.

What this gives your board

  • A peer-reviewed neuroscience foundation that satisfies evidence-based practice requirements
  • Zero professional development burden — protocols are embedded in the teacher guide
  • Alignment with equity commitments: created by a Black woman educator, designed to address the math anxiety that disproportionately affects equity-deserving students
  • A scalable digital resource that costs less than one hour of tutoring per student per year
  • A pilot pathway that bypasses standard procurement for initial implementation
  • Board-wide site licence with unlimited printing across all schools
The Missing Piece

Every student can learn math.
Some just need to regulate first.

"When a student says they hate math, or freezes at the sight of an equation, or shuts down before you've even started — their brain is not being dramatic. The amygdala has fired. The prefrontal cortex has gone offline. And no amount of encouragement, extra practice, or simpler problems will fix what is fundamentally a nervous system issue."

— Sanya Charles-Herrera, OCT | 20+ years, Ontario mathematics classrooms

93%
of students with math anxiety show measurable amygdala hyperactivity during math tasks — even before a single problem appears on the page. (Young, Wu & Menon, Stanford, 2012)
1 in 5
students experience math anxiety at a level that meaningfully impairs their performance and long-term academic trajectory.
0
existing classroom tools address the neurological root cause — most interventions target skill, not the physiological readiness to use those skills.
The Neuroscience

Here is what coloring actually does to the brain

This is not art therapy. This is applied neuroscience — structured, sequenced, and designed around how regulation and cognition interact.

Math Anxiety State

Amygdala fires. Cortisol rises. Prefrontal cortex goes offline. Student is physiologically unavailable for learning.

Structured Coloring

Repetitive geometric patterns activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Heart rate slows. Cortisol drops. Both brain hemispheres engage.

🧠

Learning Readiness

Prefrontal cortex restored. Working memory available. Student can reason, focus, and retain. Math instruction can now land.

"A student cannot access mathematical reasoning until their nervous system is ready. Regulation is not a detour from learning. It is the road itself."

OCT Certified 20+ Years Ontario Classrooms Grades 6–11 Mathematics Currently Teaching Learning Readiness Specialist UYIG Math & Mindset Coaching

Sanya Charles-Herrera is an Ontario Certified Teacher and mathematics educator with over 20 years of classroom experience across Grades 6 through 11. She is the founder of Unleash Your Inner Genius™ Math & Mindset Coaching and creator of the Genius Blueprint™ Learning System — a suite of educational programs that integrate neuroscience, identity development, and executive functioning to transform how students experience math.

She is currently teaching Grade 6 mathematics in Ontario — and actively piloting The Calm Math Mind™ Coloring Book in her own classroom. Her work sits at the intersection of mathematics education, nervous system regulation, and learning readiness.

She designed this book not as a supplementary activity — but as the physiological infrastructure that makes every other math intervention more effective.

"Every student I've ever taught who believed they were bad at math was wrong. They weren't bad at math. Their nervous system had learned to be afraid of it. That is a completely different problem — and it has a solution."
The Decision

Your student is ready to learn.
Give them the conditions to get there.

Every day a student walks into math class without learning readiness is a day of instruction that won't fully land. This tool costs less than one tutoring session and works in under 10 minutes. The only question is when you start.
